LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Friends,

In many ways, 2023 was a year of transition for all of us. Just as the world attempted to return to “normal” following the COVID-19 pandemic, so did the FBI National Academy Associates. This annual report presents a summary of the obstacles and accomplishments that marked our progress in the past year. One of those challenges relates to our membership numbers. The pandemic caused the cancellation of seven sessions of the National Academy, which means nearly 2,000 potential FBINAA members did not have the chance to attend the Academy and join our ranks. Once classes resumed, they were reduced in size from prior sessions, resulting in fewer graduates. At the end of 2023, there were 14,370 members of the FBINAA. Our vision is for the continuous development of the world's strongest law enforcement leadership network, and we are committed to raising the number of our members. Attendance at the National Academy is one of the most prestigious honors attainable by law enforcement leaders, and membership in our Association of graduates should not be a question. Throughout 2024, we will continue to focus on member benefits and encourage lifelong membership—not only as a sworn officer, but throughout retirement as well. The strength of our Association is in our membership! Another measure of the value of our Association is reflected in the number and caliber of our partners. We are proud of the dozens of Strategic and Academic Alliance partners who have established relationships with us and our members, and we welcome the new partners joining us in 2024. I encourage you to examine the list of our partners on pages 14 and 15 and get to know how they can assist your agency or you in your career.
