This type of assisted living is based in individual apartments and as each per- sons need for care increases, services can increase accord- ingly. This gives residents an opportunity to remain in the apartment setting for a greater length of time. RCAC’s offer private resi- dences with the features of a traditional apartment. Unit sizes vary from studio to one bedroom and larger. All units must have a kitch-

enette with cooking facili- ties. Apartments are gener- ally furnished by the indi- vidual, however some facilities may offer fur- nished or partially fur- nished apartments. RCAC’s are meant to be as service intensive as needed by the individuals residing in the facility. Individuals generally choose an assisted living program based on the ser-
