Retirement communities are broken out into the following cate- gories: Continuing Care Communities - A continuing care community offers var- ious levels of care to its residents under one roof. Continuing care com- munities may charge an endowment or entrance fee which guarantees admission to the different levels of care it offers. Monthly fees vary based on the level of care needed. Each continuing care community offers different endowment and entrance fee programs. Many fees are now refundable on a percentage basis. Independent Retirement Communities: Independent retire- ment communities are apartment like settings which offer numerous ameni- ties to residents.
