Deep-water bundles have an additional concern regarding the high hydrostatic pressure exerted on the carrier pipe. Two methods can be used to help the carrier pipe withstand this high external pressure; one is to internally pressurise the carrier pipe with nitrogen, the second is to allow the carrier pipe to flood.
