Womens Basketball

The Girls Basketball team showed a to– tal turn around from a losing to a winning season as they moved up to Division I. This young team consisted of ten new faces. The Lady Toreros were led by returning star guard Michelle Grear and forwards Barbara Minear and Jenny Perles. They were assisted by returning veteran Sharon Butler, Libby O'Connor, and freshmen Martha Nelson, Jeannie Corley, Michelle Keel, Valerie Hardie and Madeline Herrill.

The key to the Toreros winning season was their diversity and depth of talent. The resignation of Bonnie Bass in mid– season did not hinder the girls' play. They were inspired by their new coach, "A.J." Jones, who possesses a good understand– ing and knowledge of basketball. Because of the youth and talent of the Lady Tore– ros, they are well on their way of becoming a powerhouse basketball team.
