USD COACHING STAFF Sue Snyder Head Coach (7th season) The USOVolleyball programcontinues its winning tradition, due much in part to Head Coach Sue Snyder, entering her seventh season at USO. Last season the Toreros finished 22-11 and advanced to the semi-finals of the National Invitational Volleyball Championships (NIVC) for the second consecutive year. In addition, they placed second in the final WCC standings with a mark of 10-4. Snyder has guided the Toreros to three consecutive 20+ win seasons including a 24-6 mark in 1993 and an appearance in the NCAADivision ITournament. For her efforts, Snyder was namedWest Coast Conference Coach of the Year by her peers. In Snyder's six seasons at Alcala Park, the Toreros have never fallen from the WCC's upper division. Snyder's track record when it comes to recruiting is well documented. Her recruits own six individual and five teamWCC records. In addition she has produced four All- West Region players, six First Team All-WCC selections and three WCC Freshmen of the Year recipients. This year's squad alone contains three former Volleyball Monthly Fab 50 blue chippers. Snyder, formerly Sue Hegerle, was hired by USO Athletic Director Tom Iannacone on January 31, 1990. She previously served four seasons as an assistant coach at San Diego State (1986-89), the same school she earned a Physical Eduaction degree (1984). She went on to earn her Masters in Education Administration in 1986. Considered one of the most popular Aztec players of all-time, Snyder excelled in the big matches, competing in two NCAAFinal Fours, twice being named to the NCAA West Regional All-Tournament Team and earning All-WCAA honors in 1982. She finished sixth on the school's all-time kills list and became team captain in 1984. Snyder, who's averaged 20 wins a season at USO, began her coaching career as an

assistant at New Mexico (1984-85). She also assisted the West squad at the 1988 and 1989 U.S. Olympic Festivals. Snyder had prior exposure to international volleyball as a member of the U.S. National Team (1985-86), coached by Terry Liskevych, and in 1986 earned the USA Players' Award, symbolic ofthe spirit and loyality she showed to the team. Snyder's playing career at the amateur level includes six USVBA All-American citations, three national team championships, and an MVP honor in 1984. Snyder currently serves on the AVCA Ranking Committee and the All-Region Selection Committee. A native of Escondido, CA, Sue and husband Ky, the Executive Director of The San Diego International Sports Council, have a son, Riley and a newly born daughter Sydney. The Snyders reside in Scripps Ranch.

Mike Hallowell enters his second season on Coach Snyder's staff as an assistant coach. Hallowell coached assistant varsity boys volleyball andwas head JV coach in 1995 at West Hills HS. He was the assistant girls volleyball coach for the 1994-95 school year. He also was an assistant coach for Club Pacific 18-1 this past summer. A 1994 graduate of

Jennifer Wrightson begins her first year as a coach at USO, but her fourth year in the volleyball program. Wrightson graduated fromUSO in 1995 aftercompleting a fabulous career. W rightson has her name throughout the Torero record book, holding or sharing six records and placing in the top five all-time in four categories. Wrightson was the West Coast Conference Player of the Year in

West Hills, Hallowell lettered two years in varsity volleyball and garnered First Team All League (Grossmont Conference) honors.

1994 and an All-WCC First Team member for three seasons. Since graduating, Wrightson has played on th pro beach circuit including TeamLady Footlocker as well as the two-person WPV A league. Wrightson was also a member of the San Diego Spikers indoor volleyball team.
