Pipeline corrosion mapping at speed pipe diameters is adjustable in the field thanks to the pipe diameter scale on the instrument itself, which enables quick adjustments and fine-tuning.

Seamless steel pipes from Bavaria Rohrwerk Maxhütte produces seamless steel pipes, either hot- rolled or cold-manufactured, in a wide range of dimensions and quality grades, for customers in industries such as mechanical engineering, steel construction, construction/ plumbing trade, boiler and plant construction, and the ball bearing industry. The company’s products include threaded black and galvanised tubes; water-boiler tubes; linepipes up to 4" OD; boiler tubes, quality grade I/III; and ball bearing tubes. The products are manufactured using steel grades St 35.8, TTSt 35, St 37, St. 52, 15Mo3, 13CrMo44, 10CrMo910 and 100Cr6, with other grades available on request. External diameters range from 21.3 to 139.7mm, in wall thicknesses from 2.3 to 13mm. The company has an annual production capacity of 120,000t. Quality testing takes place before, during and after the production process. Various examinations are carried out, with stationary and mobile testing units, in order to guarantee quality standards. Sonatest, an independent manufacturer of ultrasonic flaw detectors, X-ray equipment, scanning systems, thickness gauges, transducers and NDT accessories, has launched the new Corrosion Wheelprobe, specifically designed for pipeline corrosion mapping applications. Part of Sonatest’s WheelProbe range, the new, ergonomically designed model offers smooth handling, good control and comfortable grip positions for scanning around pipes and for easy overhead work. Circumferential and longitudinal scanning are both completed rapidly and can be performed on pipes with diameters between 3" and 32". Fast and easy configuration for different

The CorrosionWheelProbe is compatible with NDT systems and instruments from the Sonatest range, such as the Rapidscan series, and also with a wide range of industry standard instruments. Industry sectors where the Corrosion Wheelprobe can be used include petrochemical, offshore, oil and gas, aerospace, composite manufacturing and marine.
