MELA Meeting Minutes 2018

institutions, Krista recommended handling this at the individual institution level. Krista will continue to provide updates to the MELA group. Some schools will not change their current process of offering eBooks to hosted students while other schools are reviewing the practice and may request a fee to cover the cost of the eBook or they may decide not to offer in the ET a course which uses an eBook.

3. MSVCC Survey Update (tentative awaiting formal response from Chair of CIRE)- Krista LeBrun

Carley Dear, Chair of CIRE, surveyed all colleges and received five responses. Based on the responses, most institutions want to continue to maintain surveys locally while shared students continue to use surveys in ET. There is no resolution at this time.

ICC will email surveys to all students, both hosted and provided.

MCC will have a self-enroll shell in Canvas for surveys—problem may arise if duplicated by hosted students as they have the survey in ET as well.

Krista will let the CIRE group know that there are differences in how we are going to see colleges administer surveys. Some of the colleges will not utilize the ET survey but will still survey both hosted and provided using an internal tool. Some schools will continue to use the ET survey for shared students, others will use it for all students listed in the ET.

4. Budget Update

Jason Carter provided eLearning & Instructional Technology Division expenditures for FY 2018. Krista will email a copy to give the group a better idea of expenditures. This gives a better idea of what we are actually spending on services, contracts, salaries, etc. Krista will send projected expenses in the spring and actual expenses in the fall. Subsidies, loans, and grants are considered expenditures—MELO goes under this section.
