Substation contracts in Colombia Alstom Grid has secured two contracts worth around €10m for the delivery

Alstom Grid has secured the second contract from Ecopetrol for the delivery and engineering of the Araguaney 115kV gas-insulated substation, with the project completion expected in March 2013. Alstom Colombia country president Juan Celis said the two contracts consolidate the company’s presence in the Latin American market, where it has operated for more than 50 years and, in particular, in Colombia, a country with great possibility of growth in the power area.

The boards of directors of the North American Development Bank (NADB) and the Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC) have approved certification and financing for a 54MW wind farm in Tamaulipas, Mexico. The wind farm will be located on communal farmland known as Ejido El Porvenir, just southeast of Reynosa, and will be equipped with 30 wind turbines, each with a nominal capacity of 1.8MW. The power project also includes a substation to step up the electricity generated before

Energy Business Review reports that NADB has authorized a peso loan equivalent to $51m for the project developer Compania Eolica de Tamaulipas, which will also operate the facility. The electricity generated by the wind farm will be purchased by Mexican retailer Soriana under a long-term agreement.
