1.1.4.IT surveillance system administrators will have access to all interior and external cameras to view live and recorded video as it in their area of responsibility to insure the proper operation of the system and all its parts. 1.1.5.The Department Director will request access to surveillance cameras or data gathered by these devices through a written request to the surveillance system IT Administrator and copying the IT Director. Any request for video that may have evidentiary value in an investigation must be made to the Commanding Officer of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Police Department. 1.1.6.Unless otherwise identified, access permissions are audited monthly and revoked for any employee that no longer has video surveillance responsibilities, or individuals who are no longer associated with the City of Greensboro. 1.1.7. The library’s surveillance cameras’ footage which identifies a person as having used the library will not be released unless all persons in the video tape (library patrons) give permission or the library is required by law to release the video footage. A court order or subpoena signed by a judge will be required prior to the release of any information contained on library surveillance cameras. 2.1. The IT Department is to provide with sufficient primary (on-line) storage to retain recorded video for up to 30 days when requested by individual Departments. If primary storage capacity is exceeded, the IT surveillance system has the ability to overwrite the oldest data to make room for new video. In the event GPD request video to be held for longer periods of time due to an investigation, this video is exported and deleted only after GPD has notified the IT Department it is acceptable to do so. 3. Appropriate Use and Confidentiality 3.1. Personnel are prohibited from sharing videos acquired from the video surveillance system except for business or legal reasons. All videos gathered from the use of security cameras are considered confidential and can only be used for reasons of public safety and building security. 3.2. When an incident is suspected to have occurred, approved Department staff can submit a request to the GPD security office to make a copy of the incident and deliver the video to investigating officers. 2. 4. Placement of Cameras

4.1. The Locations where cameras are installed may be in restricted access sites such as payment collection counters; however these locations are not places where a person has a reasonable expectation of privacy. 4.2. No audio shall be recorded. Request to utilize audio surveillance is outside of the current scope of the video surveillance system. 4.3. The installation of dummy cameras that do not operate is prohibited.
