Roads and road safety There are over 1,000 kilometres of roads within the City of Stirling. Maintenance of these roads is partly funded by municipal rates, with additional funding provided through federal and state government grants. All primary distributor roads are the responsibility of Main Roads WA, for example, Mitchell Freeway, Wanneroo Road, Karrinyup Road, Morley Drive, West Coast Highway and Reid Highway. Main Roads WA can be contacted on 138 138 or via their website www.mainroads.wa.gov.au. Road traffic incidents should be reported to WA Police on 131 444 or 000 for emergencies. S Scarborough Amphitheatre The Scarborough Amphitheatre, located on the Scarborough Beach foreshore, is an ideal venue for events, sporting competitions, concerts and promotions. It’s a great place for visitors to enjoy, with grandstand style seating, manicured grass tiers as well as power and water outlets. Located conveniently near the heart of Scarborough, the amphitheatre regularly offers exciting entertainment and boasts some of the most spectacular views of the Indian Ocean. Parking is limited in this area. There are several modes of transport available including Public Transport (buses), Taxi and or Ride Sharing Services, Walking or Cycling. Security Services The City’s Security Service has been in operation since April 1998 to reduce anti-social behaviour, crime and increase safety in the community. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Security Service attends to urgent calls – with an average response time of ten minutes – on concerns such as: • Graffiti • Vandalism • Suspicious activity • Anti-social behaviour.
