RubinBrown Gaming Stats 2014

PORTLAND REGION

Growth The Portland Region has the most consistent growth rate (4.89% 3-Year CAGR). The region’s steady growth is attributed to tribes continuing to reinvest in their existing facilities and the absence of commercial gaming expansion. Challenges State legislatures could present future challenges for tribes in the Portland Region. In Idaho, the legislature is advocating for greater involvement in the tribal-state gaming compact negotiation process. In Oregon, the possibility of commercial gaming or further expansion of video lottery terminals in restaurants and bars could increase competition for tribes. Opportunities Continued investment in existing facilities is the primary opportunity for gaming operators across the Portland Region. Additional opportunities exist for tribes to collaborate and work together. Specific to Oregon, the tribes are working to enhance the impact of the Oregon Tribal Gaming Alliance. In Washington, the collaboration between tribes was evident in the tribes donating time, resources, and over $600,000 in the aftermath of the Oso landslide.
