Nana’s Fresh Apple Cake Prep time Cook time Ready in Serves 15 min 35-40 min 65 min 6 ingredients 1 ¾ cup of apples, coarsely chopped. 1 cup of sugar 1 egg ½ cup of melted shortening (or salad oil) 1 ½ cup of flour 1 teaspoon of baking powder ½ teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, ½ teaspoon of nutmeg ½ teaspoon of all spice topping: ½ cup of sugar

directions 1. Chop apples into pieces - remove the skin off to main- tain crunchiness (keeping skin will make rubbery) 2. Put apple in bowl, add sugar, let stand for 10 min. 3. Mix dry ingredients together in a bowl. 4. Blend shortening and egg into apple mixture just until blended. Add to bowl with dry ingredients. 5. Pour into greased pans (9” square) or pie dish. 6. Create topping by adding all ingredients. Sprinkle “topping” crumble over the batter. 7. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 min.
