Wing De-Icing Screw plug immersion heaters are an effective means to keep de-icing fluid in reservoir tanks at optimal temperatures in harsh enviroments. Cartridge and silicone laminate heaters are ideal to prevent de-icing sprayer nozzles from freezing or fouling during the process.

Food Preparation Warming Cabinets Silicone laminate and tubular heaters are an economical, space-saving approach to on-board food warming. They can be made with integral thermostats or thermal fuses for temperature control and auxiliary safety devices.

Aviation & Aircraft WHY CHOOSE ELECTRIC HEAT? • Consistent pricing • Clean-running operation • No pollution • Quiet operation • Reduced footprint and envelope size • Minimal maintenance • Low operating cost • Safety • Large turndown / precise control Cabin Instrumentation and Avionics Kapton* and silicone laminate heaters are excel- lent choices for maintaining critical ambient temperatures to support vital aircraft instru- ment functions. They are an excellent choice to prevent condensation in avionics displays. Galley Coffee Makers Cartridge heaters immersed in water reservoirs is a safe and efficient means to provide heat for aircraft coffee makers. Silicone laminate or Kapton* heaters are perfect for carafe warming. Custom Load Banks Used to provide precise energy control for loading dissipation needs, Chromalox load banks feature selectable control to 1 kW and provide such features as stainless steel con- struction, enclosed heating elements, NEMA 3R outdoor protection, and industrial motor/ fan. Many options are available by request, such as dual-voltage, multifunction digital read-out, camlok connectors, or remote control. Applications include diesel generator testing, braking resistor for inverter drive, base loading, bat- tery discharge, or uninterruptible power supply (UPS) testing.

Hot Water Supply for Cabin Lavatories Cartridge heaters are the most effective means of heating potable water in aircraft lavatories. Extremely corrosion-resistant alloys and manu- facturing processes, including electropolishing, are used to ensure exceptional element reliability.

Tubular Heaters Tubular heating elements are versatile and transfer heat exceptionally well by conduc- tion, convection, or radiant heating to heat liquids, air, gases, and surfaces. Round, triangular, flat press, and formed bends are made to customer requirements. A multitude of sheath materials are available. More than 20 optimal terminations and many stocked accessories are available. Can

Screw Plug Heaters Screw plug immersion heaters consist of tub- ular elements in a threaded hex plug. Some models are provided with a thermowell for the temperature control sensor and a variety of electrical enclosures for electrical connec- tions. They screw directly through threaded openings in tank walls to heat liquids, viscous fluids, forced air, and gases by direct contact.

A patented 360° rotatable housing is available on most models to facilitate

be furnished as UL-listed and CSA-certified. VDE and CE certification are also available.

easy conduit connections.

Composite Body Fuselage Bonding Silicone laminate heaters are used when bond- ing composite materials in the aircraft fuselage body is required. Custom sizes and shapes can easily conform to fuselage geometry for the bonding process.

Aviation & Aircraft WHY CHOOSE CHROMALOX? • Broadest product line and experience unmatched in the industry • Chromalox engineers more than 3,000 unique, new products every year and has more than 700,000 customer designs on file • Vertical integration in manu- facturing capabilities • Full design and engineering for virtually any electric process heat and control application • The industry’s largest and most experienced group of engineers, all thoroughly knowledgeable with Chromalox products and applications, is right there in the field ready to serve you

Hydraulic Fluid Systems Screw plug immersion and cartridge heaters immersed in hydraulic fluid reservoirs maintain required levels of viscosity and ensure proper fluid delivery.

Load Banks/Dynamic Breaking Systems When engines are switched off power needs to be transferred to an alternate source within milliseconds to dissipate energy. Chromalox manufactures complete load bank systems or screw plugs, tubular, or cartridge heaters as components for instant power dissipation.

Mobile HVAC Ground Support Units Tubular, fin tubular, and fin strip heaters are used to provide heat in HVAC ground service units that furnish pre-conditioned air to the cabin while the aircraft is on the tarmac.

Kapton * Heaters Kapton * flexible heaters are con- structed of an organic polymer with very high dielectric capabilities, making them ideal for extreme temperature environments while providing superior resistance to most solvents, oils, even radiation. They are marked by fast warm-ups and quick response. Heating ele- ments are etched foil with solder terminal, connector, or lead termi- nations.A limitless range of shapes, sizes, and wattages is available.

Flexible Silicone Laminate Heaters Versatile Chromalox silicone lam- inate/flexible elements find use in applications requiring low to medium temperatures. Rugged construction of lightweight material provides chemical and moisture resistance. Wire elements are dur- able and wound precisely within the structure for optimal perfor- mance.A variety of electrical, shape, and contour fittings meet a broad range of specifications.

Cartridge Heaters Cartridge heaters are inserted into drilled holes to heat metal parts or small spaces. Chromalox provides an array of sizes, wattage ratings, voltages, lead, and mounting op- tions. Optional end seals resist contaminants and moisture from entering the heater as operating temperatures increase.

Finned Tubular Heaters Chromalox ® Fintube ® heating ele- ments are designed for optimum heat transfer because the fins greatly increase surface area. They are superior to open-coil elements because the heating coil is com- pletely encased in a metal sheath, minimizing shock hazard and hot spots. They can be bent to provide higher concentrations of installed kilowatts for a given area.
