FreightVine August 2015

Written by: Troy Magers The San Antonio office is one of the oldest and most distinguished ALC offices, and in more ways than one. The office opened in 1987 and was the 5 th office for the growing Allen Lund Company. We are proud to say that one of the very first employees is still working for us today. Our least tenured employee is about to hit five years, we have 5 employees with more than 10 years, and 2 with over 25 years of service to the Allen Lund Company. Lena Acevedo: Lena was one of the two employees that opened this office in 1987. She has handled the accounting for us since day 1. I have told her that she is not eligible for retirement until the year 2035 at least! Aside from keeping our books straight, Lena loves to do crafts when she is not chauffeuring her husband Jesse around. That can be a full-time job by the way. Lena and Jesse just got back from a road trip that took them from Texas to South Dakota through Yellowstone Park then Vegas and back to Texas. I’m sure it was just a practice run for all the vacations they will take once she retires in 20 more years! Jesse Acevedo: Jesse just celebrated his 25 th year with ALC. Around here he is known as Jesse “Dough” Acevedo, because he knows how to make the “dough” (that’s money for those of you in Rio Linda). Jesse probably knows more about trucking than most people have forgotten. He grew up on the San Antonio produce market and his first vehicle had 18 wheels. If you ever have a question about the produce business, Jesse can answer it. Jesse and Lena take great pride in several things; namely the Spurs, and the Cowboys but most importantly in their work, and have been a major part of this office’s success. Patty Garcia: Patty has been with ALC for over 20 years, all but one of them with San Antonio. She took a “vacation” to McAllen for about a year before deciding to come back to where all the action is. Patty has handled just about every type of dry freight that can go on a truck and is pretty handy with the accounting side of things also. She spends just about every minute she can outside of work with her grandchildren or hunting at her ranch: or taking her grandchildren hunting at her ranch. Jesse Acevedo IV: Jesse has been with ALC for almost 12 years now. He started out with the Flatbed office in Atlanta, and then like every other Texan that moves away, he got back here as fast as he could. He has been with ALC-SA since 2007. He is a part of our Coke team and is
