WHAT ’S NeW in NY?

Abbotts and Delaunay is a joint venture between two winemakers from different sides of the world: Nerida Abbott from Australia and Laurent Delaunay from Burgundy. The winery is located in the village of Marseillette, a commune in the Aude department in southern France. Laurent Delaunay knows these terroirs, having traveled extensively throughout the region in search of small plots of old vines growing at high altitudes in some of the region's finest appellations: Corbières, Minervois, Faugères, and Limoux. Abbotts & Delaunay’s Clouds and Winds collection features wines made with grapes that are selected from old vines, grown in vineyards planted at high altitudes from an intentionally small number of appellations and produced in very limited quantities. enrico serafino was founded in 1878 in Canale d’Alba, one of the main towns in the Roero region of Piemonte, Italy, which has a rich history dating back to the Middle-Ages. Today the winery still stands in its original location, making it the oldest winery in the region. Established by businessman and landowner enrico serafino , the winery quickly became well-known throughout Piemonte and Italy and was one of the first to sell the region’s classic wines throughout Italy and abroad. During this time, enrico serafino was also active in the production of Metodo Classico sparkling wines, which would later directly contribute to the formation and recognition of the Alta Langa DOCG. The Krause family purchased the winery in 2015, and the new owners are committed to re-establishing enrico serafino as one of today’s leading wineries in Piemonte. (page 376)
