The Homefront column is designed to inform our members where in the community our new residents are living and other residences they may have. It also keeps up with our present members who have stayed in the community but moved to new dwellings. Of course we always wish our members who are moving out of the community good luck wherever their travels take them and our new members and established members good luck in their new address.

This month we welcome two new families to Frenchman’s.

MICHELE THOMAS and MICHAEL SENTOWSKI have purchased the home on Provence that used to be Gilda and Jerry Glasser’s home. They also reside in Pompton Lakes , New Jersey , a nd also Franklin, Massachusetts. Pictured at right are: Erin, Michele, Michael and in front, Diana– the Sentowski family.

DAWN and RANDALL PARKS BURCHAM bought Krista and Steven Nicklaus’ home on Calais Drive. They also have a residence in Wolcott, Colorado.

KRISTA and STEVEN NICKLAUS are in their new home on Le Bateau Isle.

A LADY AND HER “LADY”

GLORIA HERMAN and her dog, Lady, were featured in the Palm Beach Pet Society book of 2019. Gloria related how she loves dogs but was told she was too old to adopt one. However, she kept browsing dog adoption centers as if she were browsing jewelry. The she came upon Furry Friends Adoption Clinic and Ranch where you can take a dog home for a 7 day trial period. She found Lady, A Min Pin mix, (which she has had all her life) and it was the end of looking.

Lady loves to sleep in late, is highly protective of me and is always by my side. She is housebroken to boot !

DEBRA GREENBERG had a hole-in-one

on Thursday, October 10th, 2019. It was on number 11 of the South Course and it played at 123 yards. She used a 7 wood.

Minx Boren – Chairwoman, FCCC Eco Club Let’s GO GREEN!

Take the Eco-Challenge! Sign up for the 30 Day Plastic-Free Water Bottle Challenge! Commit to not using any plastic disposable water bottles from November 14 to December 12.

BYOB : Bring Your Own Bottle. You can fill it up with water on the golf course, gym, pool, beach. Filtered water refill machines are available at various locations in our club. Disposable cups are available if you forget your container. Insulated cups and thermos bottles can be purchased at stores like CVS, Walgreens, Target, Publix, Amazon and our Fitness Center. Water bottled in plastic is neither as pure nor as healthy as you may think. It tends to be more acidic than is ideal for our bodies and studies show that it is laden with micro-plastics. Let’s make wiser choices for our bodies and for the environment.

* 1 million plastic bottles are thrown away every minute.

* Every minute, an entire garbage truck’s worth of plastic pollution is dumped into our oceans.

* Plastics are suffocating our marine life and polluting coastal communities around the world.

 Want to learn more. Watch this: https://storyofstuff.org/movies/story-of-bottled-water/ it is only a few minutes long!

Make a personal commitment to join in this challenge! Sign up on the boards available in the Fitness Center and Golf Sign-up area. At the end of the month, pick up your sticker “I DID IT! " I completed the Eco-Challenge.” and be included in a photo collage with others who have also done so. Yes, this is a personal challenge and i s also one that will make everyone at Frenchman’s more aware and responsible about using less plastic water bottles for the future. Our community has always been at the cutting edge of innovation. Here is one more way we can continue to be a leader in lifestyle awareness and appeal. Other clubs have already begun initiatives like this one. It’s good for us, for our children and grandchildren and for the Earth.

Let’s do this together— Be part of the solution instead of adding to the pollution !

BOBBE WIENER is thrilled to announce the engagement of her oldest grandson, Michael Alexander Wiener to Allison (Alli) Sarfatti. They both reside and work in the Washington, D.C. area. They both also like the out- doors, especially hiking and rock climbing, soo it was natural for Michael to propose this summer while hik- ing in Yosemite National Park. A June wedding in New Paltz, New York is planned.

If you have not seen Minx Boren around Frenchman’s lately it is because she has just

finished writing her 16th book! It is titled “Decades of Gratitude, Gusto, Grit & Grace.”

The core theme revolves around the quest to see each new day as a gift and an opportunity to live in a way that is meaningful, purposeful, joyful, and fulfilling. Written from the perspective of a longtime life coach, it is meant to evoke curiosity and inspire clarity and commitment rather than offer prescriptive advice. Using a coach approach, there are also questions to ponder so that the reader can discover their own inspirational ideas about how to thrive through this time of life. Now more than ever, we each need to find quiet time to reflect on our circumstances and connect with our wise inner voice.

A Frenchman's Creek Love Story by the proud grandmother Rima Robinson

My grandson, Eric Rudofker, was visiting me July l0, 2013. Eric arrived from University of Rochester where he was attending medical school-His hometown is Philadelphia. Maggie Fitzgerald lived in Sacramento but worked in New York City. She was down here on business. On that day Eric decided to have lunch at the Thirsty Turtle which is on Donald Ross Road, just minutes from our Frenchman's Creek gate. Maggie went the same day to The Thirsty Turtle for lunch. Eric from the east coast and Maggie from the west coast started a conversation which later led to a date which later led to a bicoastal romance. Two years later as the romance continued, the couple met down here together to visit me at Frenchman's Creek. They got along beautifully and I could tell they really enjoyed one another's company. As time passed by Eric received his medical residency in Denver. Maggie gave up her job in New York and moved to Denver to be with Eric. Another visit to see me in Florida was in the making from Eric and Maggie. But this was no ordinary visit. This was a well planned visit by Eric. He planned to ask Maggie to marry him. Ring in hand the three of us headed to the Beach Club. I had a special bottle of champagne hidden in my beach bag. The staff helped me plan the big event. I slipped the bottle of champagne to one of the staff and at the allotted time asked her to bring it out to poolside. All the while I was hiding behind a tree watching the whole romantic scene. As the waitress was exiting from inside, heading toward the soon to be engaged couple I noticed the color of the bubbly- it was dark brown. The champagne was rotten spoiled awful. I somehow intercepted her with Maggie and Eric not seeing me. And wouldn't you know Good ole Frenchman's came to the rescue with a fresh bottle of champagne. The proposal was about to ensue again. The waitress served the champagne to Maggie and Eric.

Maggie asked what was the occasion for the champagne? Eric on bended knee asked Maggie for her hand in marriage. Thank goodness she said yes? And there I was hiding behind the tree watching a true Frenchman's Creek love story. The wedding was August 31 in Denver, Colorado.
