Sara Hi ckmann enters her second year as Coordi nato r of Ath letic Aca– demi c Support at the University of San Di ego. Th e USO Ath leti c A ca demi c Support Program is des igned to as– sist and motivate stud ent-ath letes in th eir j ourney and progress to– wards th eir academi c goa ls, and ultimate l y graduat io n . Th e pri– mary objective is to improve the student -athl et es' study sk i l ls, suppo rt them in t he i r academic work, and enco ur age scho las ti c ac hievement. Our academic support center has been designed to be proactive in helping ttiem achieve their goals and maintain a high standard of academic achievement. Whether it be advising, tutoring, or just a quiet place to study, I encourage them to take advantage of all the resources that are available. I promote an interactive approach to learning and the estabrishment of a strong foundation early in their academic career. I believe that developing positive attitudes, habits, and behaviors during col– lege will contribute to lifelong success both on and off the field." Sara Hickmann

Their strengt h and condi ti on ing programs are spec ifi c to the na– ture of the ir sport or position . Each athl ete is individually mon itored thro ughout thei r pro– gram to ensu re th e grea test chance of ath letic progress. Steve was named the 1998 Nat ional St rength and Cond iti o ning Association Profes– siona f of the Year for th e West Coast Confer– ence.
