The large monu­ mental building to the right with the round frontispiece with a marble bust of F re­ derik IV and the royal arms, surrounded by trophies, is the so-called Chancery-Buil­ ding. I t was b uilt in 1716— 21 by T. C. E rn st and is al­ most unchanged. Next to this building towards Christians- gade are the m inisterial buil­ dings, with offices for the m inistries of Justice, War, Navy, Agriculture, Traffic and Interior, besides the pay of­ fice of the m inistry of Finance,

Behind these buildings with entrances from K ristiansgade and the Parliam ents court­ yard, are the Royal-Library, the State Archives, the Victual- liny Office and the Arsenal situated (see Chapter 7). Through Tojhusgade along the building of the master of the horse, built by Frederik IV one reaches to Frederik s- holms Kanal. To the left the canal runs into the harbour along the old building of »The K ings Brewing-house«, with its characteristic roof, a ttrac tin g ones attention.
