Admission 25 0 re and 10 0re for children. On Wednes­ days and Saturdays free ad­ mission 11—12. From April 1st to October 31st open 10-4, on Sundays and holidays 12 —4. From November 1st to March 31st 11—3, on Sun­ days and holidays 12—3 Nyboder (route 2) forms a special p art of Copenhagen. It consists of a number of straig h t streets with low tiled houses, built by Christian IV for the regular stafif of the navy. Nyboder ranks directly under the Navy Department, which employes a naval offi­ cer as the commandant of Ny­ boder, having his own police- force. There are about 3500

Rundetaarn (the round tower) (route 5) is situated, literally, in tlie middle of Kob- magergade, much to the impc- diment of the big traffic. I t was bu ilt in 1624 by Chri­ stian IV to be an astronom ical observatory and was used for this purpose to 1860. The to ­ wer is 86 meters high and about 15 meters in diameter. A fine spiral way w ithout stairs leads to the platform of the tower, from Where is a most beautiful and intere­ sting view of the city, the Sound and the environs. When Peter the great of Rus­ sia in 1716 visited Copenha­ gen he rode on horseback up the smooth rising spiral, whi­ le the empress K ath arin a in her carriage drove up to the platform.
