By daytime eve­ rything in the meantime is peaceful and it pays to take a walk on both sides of Ny­ havn and inspect the many funny old houses. The rig h t side of the street is called the Charlottenborg- side, because the one wing of Charlottenborg, where the royal academy of the line arts has its home (see chapter 9), is facing this street. A t the end of Nyhavn by Kongens Nytorv the small motorboats are stationed, with which trip s may be ma­ de through the harbour (see chapter 5). On each side of the steps down to the boats

this, on the corner af Bredga- de, the line Thott Palace. This was built by the admiral Niels Juel, who died in 1097. In 1700 the palace was sold to the count Otto Thott and still belongs to this family (the barony af Ctanno). A t present the French Le­ gation resides here. Between Bredgade and Sto­ re Strandstrsede is a charac­ teristic little corner-building the » Kanneworff Housed. To the rig h t from here one has a view down the picturesque Nyhavn.
