USD Alumn is Olympic Bound Petia Yanchulova, a 1999 grad uate, made a huge impact on the University of San Diego Volleyball program. The 5- 11 out side hitter was a two -time All -American ( 1998, 99), two-time District VII I First Team se lection, two -time West Coast Conference Player of the year ( 1998, 99) , named WCC Defender of the Year in 1999, two-time WCC First Team se lect ion (1998 , 99) and a two-time wee Second Team se lection (1996 , 97) . She is USD's al l-time leader in kills (1 , 892) , digs (1 ,341) , attack attempts (4 ,295) and attack percentage (.308). Petia ranks second in career serv ice aces ( 124) and eight h in total blocks (221 ). Aft er fini shing her career at USD, Pet ia has been getting familiar with the Olympic scene . Her and her si ster, Lina , have qualified fo r the 2000 Bulgarian Beac h Vo ll eyball team . Petia and Lina qualified in August, 2000 and will be see n in Sydney, Aust rali a for the 2000 Olympics. "Living in San Diego gave me the opportunity to play more beach vo ll eyball ," says Petia , "it's exciting that we qual ified for the Olympics, we're going to go for the gold medal in Austra lia. "
