Going for green at BRIDGE PARK Growing environmental awareness in the construction industry has prompted a trend for green buildings. Achieving such accreditation on construction projects requires particular expertise and experience on the part of the main contractor.

The project The 18 049 m 2 Bridge Park office development at Century City comprises two four-storey buildings, namely Bridge Park West and Bridge Park East, with a super-basement for parking. The structure is concrete framed with Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP) cladding for 60% of the building façade and 40% glazing. The third floor terraces have glazed balus- trades. The internal atrium of the buildings has glazed shop fronts and roof lights. A significant external element is the signage feature walls cast with Agilia concrete. Murray & Roberts Western Cape commenced with the project in January 2014, says Granvil Jacobs, contracts manager at the company. The project was divided into two phases, with Bridge Park East and the super-basement in Phase I and Bridge Park West in Phase Two.
