A WATER-BASED COMMITMENT

“The new products have been developed using ‘Innovative Water- based Technology’ – with excellent durability, fast drying times and low odour. Backed by the company’s technical expertise, customers are assured of using the highest quality products which is environmentally aware,” she explains. AQUANOVA Coatings System Together, the AQUANOVA Primer and AQUANOVA Topcoat form the ideal system for use in extreme industrial environments up to C3, and offers a lifetime expectancy of up to 12 years. The AQUANOVA Primer is a single pack water-based epoxy primer and the ideal solution for corrosion protection, with excellent corrosion resistance and resistance to under-film corrosion creep. The advanced anti-corrosion technology allows for salt spray resistance up to an incred- ible 1 000 hours. “AQUANOVA Primer can be used with both water and solvent-based high performance topcoats. Being water-based, this single pack primer coating allows for ease of application to mild and hot rolled steel, aluminium and polished aluminium. Its quick-drying properties mean less downtime in the workplace,” Le Roux says. AQUADUO Direct-To-Metal This is an innovative primer and topcoat in one that can be applied directly to prepared mild and galvanised steel. This saves both time and effort, and produces a finish that withstands exposure from harsh environmental conditions, while maintaining a protective sheen finish. Rust inhibitors are built into the coating, thereby negating the need for primer. PLASCOSAFE Exceptional wood protection has always presented difficulties, with some products leaving the wood looking lacklustre, le Roux admits.“PLASCOSAFE Floor Coating was developed with exceptional abrasion resistance whilst also enhancing the beauty of wood. This is an environmentally-aware coating that is available in two different gloss levels, is fast drying and has good stain and chemical resistance,” says Le Roux. It is a formaldehyde-free, premiumwater-based product that has been specifically formulated for use on interior wooden floors. The PLASCOSAFE range also includes PLASCOSAFE Furniture Coating, a range of single pack water-based coatings that is formaldehyde free, has good mar resistance, and offers better UV stability than acid catalysed lacquers. Although the range was developed for the industrial coatings market, it has a strong place in the DIY market as well. It is easy to brush apply and the non-yellowing properties make lime washing and other effects easy to achieve with sustainable results. As the market moves rapidly towards sustainable products and services, Le Roux indicates that Kansai Plascon will continue to innovate and provide solutions that are not only kinder to the environment, but also reduce the costs of protecting both wood andmetals fromearly deterioration.“Our pride in our new water-based range is enhanced by knowing that our customers will form part of a chain of environmentally aware decisions.” Kansai Plascon brand manager for industrial coatings, Mareta le Roux reveals that the company is proud to introduce a range of water-based coatings that are lowinvolatileorganiccompounds (VOCs), but durable enough to stand up to the challenge of effectively coating metal and wood. >

NEW ROTARY HAMMER

The DHR263ZK’s three-mode operation utilising a SDS plus one touch slide chuck – rotation only, rotation plus hammering and hammering only – ensures easy operation and handling. The built-in LED light with pre-glow and afterglow functions illuminates the workspace for greater accuracy in poor light conditions. Operator comfort and more control during operation have not been overlooked. An ergonomically designed vibration-absorbing handle with sure grip reduces the magnitude of vibration and hand fatigue. Measuring 350 mm in length, the new DHR263ZK has a 26 mm capacity in concrete, 13 mm in steel and 32 mm in wood. It features a no load speed of 0 – 1 200 r/min and delivers 0 – 4 800 blows per minute. The rotary hammer is supplied in a carry case but all tool bits are sold separately. For use in outdoor applications or harsh environments the DHP263ZK has extreme protection technology, which provides enhanced protection from dust and dripping water. When the remaining battery capacity decreases below a certain limit, the motor automatically stops and a solid red light reminds you to replace the battery. There is one warning lamp for each individual battery. This model is compatible with the Makita 5 Ah (45 minutes charge time), 4 Ah (36 minutes charge time) and 3 Ah (22 minutes charge time) batteries. The batteries and the charger are sold separately. The 3.0Ah batteries are interchangeable with other 18 V Makita Lithium Ion cordless tools in the range, while the 4 Ah and 5 Ah batteries are compatible with all models that start with a D in the model name and have a star on the battery terminal. The rechargeable and eco-friendly Makita 18V 3 Ah Li-Ion batteries provide longer run time. The LXT Li-Ion battery generates an impressive 430% more lifetime work with two-and-a-half times more cycles. Using cordless technology is a simple and effective way to ensure productivity when a power source isn’t available but without compromising on performance. Makita is adding another twin 18V Lithium- Ion Cordless tool to its comprehensive range. The DHR263ZK Rotary Hammer is powered by two 18V batteries, installed in series to supply energy to the powerful 36V DC motor drive system. This offers great versatility as it utilises your existing 18V battery and charger system, as well as being a significantly more affordable option than having to purchase a 36V tool and batteries. >
