This practical course will give you the experience required to progress into hands- on yard management, top-level groom roles or coordinator positions within an organisation. You’ll focus on maximising equine performance through training, management and nutrition. Industry-focused modules will develop your professional profile and prepare you to make important decisions in your chosen career. In your first year, you’ll study a wide range of topics as you assess current industry practices. You’ll then tailor your studies to suit your interests and career goals. Industry opportunities A compulsory work placement and optional integrated placement year on this degree will enable you to gain essential industry experience. You could work on our own livery yard, at one of our annual international equine events or at international competition yards. Experience a campus full of commercial opportunities and outstanding facilities. You’ll apply theory to practice on our equine yard, gain experience in our equine therapy and rider performance centres, as well as our animal science labs. You’ll immerse yourself in animal equine health and welfare, combining equine science and management in areas such as performance, behaviour or therapy. An applied research project will allow you to explore a topic of your choice in detail. Industry opportunities We’ll encourage you to gain experience in industry through voluntary work while you're here. Where appropriate, industry and research-based guest speakers will contribute to your modules. This course is ideal for those who have a passion for the equine industry and want to build on their current qualifications and industry experience. Jonathan completed his integrated placement year at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre, where he worked his way up to Yard Supervisor and Instructor. He now works at a riding school in Zambia. "I teach people how to be grooms and help orphan children to ride. I’d love to work with polo teams in Australia, teach in India, Japan and Dubai, and lead treks in Canada and America!"
