Completion of this programme will give you eligibility to join the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Veterinary Nursing Register and allow you to practise as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.*

This degree provides a fantastic opportunity for you to qualify as a Veterinary Nurse whilst advancing your own and the industry’s knowledge through research and clinical coaching. You’ll develop valuable skills in coaching colleagues, and advance your knowledge of an industry-relevant area that interests you through live research and statistical analysis. Students publish research with lecturers and have the opportunity to present at industry conferences. On successful completion of your final year, you’ll be eligible to join the RCVS Veterinary Nursing Register and begin practising as a fully-qualified Veterinary Nurse. Industry opportunities In your second year, you’ll complete a work-based clinical placement (currently 1,800 hours) in an approved RCVS veterinary nursing training practice. This will allow you to develop clinical skills ready for qualifying. We have excellent partnerships with local and national practices. support in the surgical prep area and the inpatient wards. I’m also a member of the hip team, which means I get to scrub in to assist the surgeons performing hip replacements. We call it ‘running the table’, ensuring the orthopaedic surgeons have the kit they need to do their work. I chose Hartpury because I loved that Veterinary Nursing had their own dedicated practical centre. We also had a great amount of dedicated time each week to prepare us for our OSCE practicals, ensuring we did everything properly."
