Dr. Vicky Melfi PhD Principal Lecturer BSc Human-Animal Interaction

Central to this degree is the role that animals have in enriching human lives. You’ll study how humans influence animal environments and the promotion of animal welfare through education. You’ll examine the benefits of human-animal interaction, from the use of animals as resources (such as in agriculture and the military) and helping children to read, to improving physical and mental health and wellbeing. Learning is brought to life with real-life case studies, industry placements and student-animal interventions on site. Industry opportunities Gaining experience in industry is a core part of the degree, to ensure you’re ready for employment when you graduate. You’ll benefit from opportunities on campus in our commercial animal therapy centres, as well as with our industry partners in Gloucestershire, across the UK and internationally. This course is ideal for those who are fascinated by the human-animal bond and would like to work with humans and animals to further the therapeutic benefits of this relationship. Explore the role of animals as pets, in zoos, on farms and in conservation contexts. Graduate ready to make a difference in an exciting industry.
