Animal Management Level 6 Top-up BSc (Hons)

You’ll develop new skills and confidence to work effectively with different animals on campus and in industry. On successfully completing the course you’ll have the option to move into employment or top-up your qualification to a full BSc degree in one year. You’ll develop your understanding of animal physiology and biodiversity, learning about animal nutrition, welfare, production, health and disease. You’ll work with animals on campus to develop different handling techniques and strengthen your knowledge of business, ready for your next step. Industry opportunities You’ll undertake 222 hours in industry as part of this course, to prepare you for employment. Alongside gaining experience in our equine and canine therapy centres, commercial farm and labs, students undertake internships at city farms, equine yards, catteries, kennels, as well as with the RSPCA. This course is ideal for those who want to develop their knowledge and skills through practical learning, whilst exploring and preparing for a range of animal-related careers. and qualify ready to move into employment or further study. Top-up your HND, foundation degree or equivalent to a full honours degree, tailoring your studies to suit you. You could immerse yourself in animal nutrition, developing your practical skills in our animal science labs. If you're passionate about human-animal interaction, you could study how animals are used in therapies and education. You could also pursue wildlife conservation, experiencing the behind-the-scenes working of a zoo on a residential trip.* Industry opportunities You’ll also be encouraged to gain industry experience through voluntary work while you’re here, ready for your career. Students have recently worked at our commercial animal therapy centres and farm, the Blue Cross, West Midlands Safari Park, the International Centre for Birds of Prey and Bristol Aquarium. This course is ideal for those who have a passion for animals and want to advance existing qualifications and experience into a full BSc degree to further their career options.
