RCMP SPACE RENOVATION AT OLD CITY HALL $13,500,000

The former City Hall will be improved to accommodate up to 575 staff in a RCMP Main Detachment expansion. Staff will occupy the south tower and the main floor of the west wing. Interior renovations, system updates and improvement to the parking compound should be completed by the end of 2016, with the remaining improvements required through to 2018. The 2016 contribution to this multi-year project is $4,340,000.

OPERATING IMPACT: The 2016 – 2020 Financial Plan include additional $352,800 of op- erating costs for implementation and monitoring of this program.

RECREATION & THEATRE NEEDS $582,000

Computer controls for the 3rd ice surface at Surrey Sport and Leisure need to be replaced along with some minor equipment needs at Sunnyside Hall and Fraser Heights Recreation Centre.; in addition preschool programs across the City are in need of equip- ment upgrading, which will take place over the next three years. Improvements are also needed to the theatre and gallery lighting at the Surrey Arts Cen- tre to improve efficiency; drapery and audio equipment will also be enhanced to meet both efficiency and programming needs. These repairs and replacement will take place over the next three years. The 2016 contribution to this multi-year program is $362,000. OPERATING IMPACT: The 2016 – 2020 Financial Plan does not include additional operat- ing costs as all costs associated with the implementation of this program are included within the allocated funding. The Engineering Department’s Roads and Drainage Section is divided into three distinct geographical areas to provide appropriate and timely coverage throughout Surrey for surface maintenance issues within City roads and rights-of way. The South Surrey roads coverage area extends from Colebrook Road to the south perimeter of the City. South Operations Roads and Drainage staff have temporarily been using space at the Central Operations Facility while searching for a new site. The establishment of a South Surrey Operations Centre is required to improve customer service and increase the productivity and efficiency of the Roads and Drainage Operations staff. The new facility will be locat- ed on City owned land at 16666 -24 Avenue. The site has been cleared for development and construction is scheduled to commence this spring. The 2016 contribution to this multi-year project is $13,000,000. SOUTH SURREY OPERATIONS CENTRE $16,000,000
