Station: Head-to-Toe Exam Practice

Objectives: Properly perform a Full body scans(head-to-toe) assessment in a trauma patient

Instructions: Split students into groups of three. One person is patient, the other rescuer. A third student can maintain spinal immobilization and later check the student against the skills sheet. Have student pairs execute head-to-toe exam first under the step-by-step direction of the lead instructor (all students going together). Additional instructors should be supervising two groups of three students each.

As students gain proficiency, they can be allowed to work without the direction of the lead instructor.

Objectives:

1. Describe how to perform a full body scan in a trauma patient 2. Identify cases where a full body can is useful and indicated

3. Name two findings that could be found in the head during full body scan 4. Name two findings that could be found in the neck during full body scan 5. Name two findings that could be found in the chest during full body scan 6. Name two findings that could be found in the abdomen during full body scan 7. Name two findings that could be found in the pelvis/perineum during full body scan 8. Name two findings that could be found in the extremities during full body scan 9. Name two findings that could be found in the posterior during full body scan
