Day 1 Malta – Rome Meet the tour leader at Malta International for flight Malta to Rome. Transfer to the 4* Fiume Hotel, Depart for City tour of Rome visiting Republic Square, Barberini Square, Veneto Street, Villa Borghese, Ripetta Street, Mausoleo di Augusto, Pietra and Parliamento Square. Later proceed to The Catacombs which are spread over 17 kilometers of underground caves, some of which are inaccessible. They are laid out on four levels – one on top of another. The catacombs of the Eternal City offer one of the most complete and eloquent pictures of the Christian community in Imperial Rome, and of Catholicism in the city between the 2nd and 9th centuries. Until the 2nd century, in fact, the early Christians didn’t have their own cemeteries but were buried alongside the pagans in communal burial grounds outside the city along the main consular roads. The Apostle Peter was buried on the Vatican hill and St. Paul along the road to Ostia. Evening return transfers to Piazza di Spagna. Day 2 Eternal Rome Breakfast and today we will start our city tour by touring some of the most important landmarks of Rome, visiting St. Mary Major Basilica – one of the fourmainBasilicas inRome – St. John in Lateran the ‘mother of all churches’, built under the emperor Constantine, the first Christian Caesar, and renewed by Borromini in the XVII century – The “Holy Stairs” with the 28 steps ascended by Christ in Pontius Pilates’ house during his trial, San Paolo Fuori le Mura which is a patriarchal basilica dedicated to St Paul, near the site of his tomb and containing his shrine. It is also the Roman basilica assigned to the Patriarch of Alexandria, and the second largest church in Rome. Later we will proceed to Navona Square, a typical Baroque square and The Pantheon which is the most complete ancient building in Rome and one of the city’s most spectacular

sights. Visit to the Vatican, St Peter`s Basilica the largest Church of the world, with millions of golden mosaics, several Tombs of Popes and the Pieta, Michelangelo`s most important sculpture. Transfer to San Paolo Fuori le Mura for concert of sacred music at the Papal Basilica. The concert will commence at 20:00hrs and shall feature Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis performed by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of its internationally-acclaimed Principal Conductor and Artistic Director Mro Brian Schembri with the participation of four international soloists Soprano: Jacquelyn Wagner Alto: Eva Vogel Tenor: Daniel Kirch Bass: Gerd Grochowski and the world-famous choir of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia The Holy See’s highest dignitaries will be invited, together with Maltese and Italian high officials, and the general public. The artistic Crib that will be displayed at St Peter’s Square this Christmas will be from Malta. Day 3 Imperial Rome Breakfast and the tour today will take us to the main places of interest such as The Colosseum , Foro Romano, Piazza Venezia, Altare della Patria and Campidoglio, Via del Babuino, Via del Corso, and Piazza del Popolo, Spanish Steps and Piazza di Spagna, the most famous square in Rome with its 138 steps and the fountain of the Barcaccia, the Trevi Fountain and more. We will also visit Trinita’ dei Monti which is a famous church in Rome, well known because of its location just above the Spanish Steps that descend into the Piazza di Spagna. The church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity and the full name of the church is ‘Santissima Trinità al Monte Pincio’. Evening return transfers to Fontana Di Trevi.
