Transportation Network

Riverside County is home of one of the nation’s most diverse and reliable transportation networks. This includes highways and express lanes, public buses, commuter rail trains and active transportation options serving bicyclists and pedestrians. Business needs are also well-addressed with the presence of freight facilities owned and operated by two intercontinental railroads and convenient access to the Port of Los Angeles and Long Beach as well as being nearby air facilities such as Ontario International Airport, PalmSprings International Airport, March Air Reserve Base and a wide variety of other aviation facilities throughout Southern California. Most importantly, Riverside County’s transportation network is poised to serve future growth needs thanks to ongoing investment and funding, innovative project delivery and a commitment to sustainability and protecting the environment. Significant investments have also beenmade on a number of key corridors including SR- 91, I-215, and I-10 and another $471 million project is ready to break ground in December 2017 on I-15. Public Transit — The Riverside Transportation Agency (RTA) is the is among the largest in the nation for a transit system, encompassing approximately 2,500 squaremiles of western Riverside County, the second largest territory of any transit operator in the nation.
