Slow High Intensity Weight Training: The Best Exercise There Is? Why exercise?

everyday clothes without sweating or discomfort – a training session takes about 20 minutes – and (best of all?) our clients train at most two times a week so they don’t have dedicate their life to being in the gym! Why exercise like this? It is great that increasing numbers of people are taking more responsibility for their fitness and health. In the 1970s Arthur Jones and Ken Hutchins, two men who had helped many contestants become Mr Universe or similar, undertook some medical research into how to build muscle, and why we lose it. What they found is that muscle loss isn’t inevitable – we lose it because we don’t use it. By stimulating the muscle to exhaustion – safely – the workout they developed provides the physiological trigger for muscle to be rebuilt. Decades later, with more research and hundreds of thousands of training sessions under our belts, Abstract Bodyworks have taken these ideas to the pinnacle of exercise science. That is why we have success helping anyone any age, any body, any condition start to rebuild their natural strength and regain years of healthy life. That is why we are confident that our exercise is “The Best There Is!”

research, and gave frequent feedback on your progress would be ideal – and that is exactly what we deliver. The best kind of HIIT HIIT – High Intensity Interval Training – has shown the promise of delivering significant cardio-vascular (CV) improvement for very little time commitment. Most recently proponents of HIIT, especially Michael Mosley, have advocated adding weight training for more complete benefit.

Everyone knows that you have to do some exercise in order to keep fit but what does “fit” really mean? At Abstract Bodyworks® Newbury we have a simple definition for fitness: the ability to do what you WANT, NEED, and HAVE to do without risking physical injury. We separate these three activities because they represent levels in your quality of life: what you want to do may involve playing a sport, playing with the kids; any pleasant pursuits. What you need to do is run for the bus, put the shopping in the back of the car; required activity. What you have to do is stuff that keeps you alive; stop yourself from falling down stairs, get out of the way of a pavement cyclist; essential actions. We help our clients put muscle back on their frame so they can begin to do what they used to do without compromise. And that is our definition of “fitness”. What makes us the best? If you think about a definition for “good exercise” you might well come up with a list such as this:
