Tufflon compression glands from Pratley are made from a tough engineering plastic that is unlike ordinary PVC. This renders them virtually unbreakable and makes them ideal for appliances and instrumentation in a wide range of applications and industries, from sewerage and chemical plants to abattoirs. An IP68 seal also protects the gland from the ingress of dust and renders it completely waterproof for immersion up to 2.0 m. Pratley Marketing Director, Eldon Kruger, points out that the Tufflon compression gland can be adapted for use with flat twin and earth cables by simply replacing the standard compression bush supplied with a special adaptor bush. The cable gland is SABS-approved and complies with SANS 60529 for an IP68 rating. It is tough and chemical- resistant, so it can endure harsh and rugged operating environments. Kruger highlights that the non-metallic compression cable glands are manufactured from especially tough engineering plastic and should not be confused with ordinary PVC cable glands which can be prone to ‘thread jumping’.
