Recruiting global talent Postgraduate specialists in technology and management

Employer engagement at Cranfield University As an employer, you’ll want to recruit the best individuals who can make a real difference to your organisation. Cranfield graduates have that extra something and are the envy of industry. Thanks to our significant interaction with commerce and industry, Cranfield students benefit from a focus on the practical application of skills through group and individual projects rather than pure theory. Our programmes are applied and relevant, informed by the cutting edge-research that we carry out on behalf of our clients and partners. This means our graduates come away with a ‘real-world’ mind-set and skills that ensure they can make a seamless transition from study to the world of work, creating immediate value for employers.

Ways of engaging with Cranfield talent

Industry networking events Host a stand, provide a guest speaker or simply come along as an attendee to a Cranfield subject specific event. You will be able to interact with our students and network with peers in your industry including Cranfield alumni. Employer speed dating sessions An excellent way to get to know our students through short one-to-one sessions. The conversation topic is up to you - It could be discussing a specific vacancy, a general career chat or providing students with your tips and advice on the recruitment process.

There are many ways as an employer you can tap into Cranfield talent. You may just want to consider one specific way or work with us to create a package of activity from our standard items that would best suit your company’s needs. Advertising a vacancy Access our online career and recruitment platform Symplicity www.cranfield-csm.symplicity.com/employers You can post job opportunities directly to our students and alumni, select target students to engage with and manage applications. On-campus recruitment activities can also be arranged and managed via Symplicity. Careers Fair Engage with over 1,200 postgraduate students across all of our subject specialisms at our flagship annual careers event held in November. Employer presentations Employer presentations offer you the opportunity to raise brand awareness, share an insight into your company and the industry you represent, provide an overview of recruitment opportunities and network with the target student audience.

“It was my first time here at the Careers Fair. Fantastic location, a huge amount of energy and passion in the room, both from the presenters and from the students themselves, so it’s really electrifying. “We’ve had some fascinating discussions with students and they’ve been telling us about the projects they’ve been working on, which have been really inspiring.” Nicola Thomson, Development Manager in Production and Supply, Syngenta

“We’re not necessarily looking for one type of person, we know that if someone’s come to Cranfield they’re going to be a committed, dedicated individual who’s very bright.” Joe Robinson, Plant General Manager, DPD Group

On-campus recruitment activities We can arrange interviews and facilitate assessment centres on campus. Student project presentation days Most of our students have the opportunity to work on group and individual projects, many of which are sponsored by industry and answer a specific industrial challenge. To prepare our students for presenting in the real world they are all expected to showcase their projects to industry and peers. These days will enable you to view the quality of their work and network with the students. Projects and internships In addition to simply viewing the output of our students’ group or individual projects at a presentation day, you can also get more involved and have one of your business challenges researched by sponsoring a group or individual master’s project. There are also opportunities to sponsor an internship on the MSc in Management or an MBA consulting project.

CV books We are able to generate bespoke CV books on request for selected student cohorts/courses, offering you the opportunity to see in detail the talent we have available in your industry area. Executive matching We can shortlist potential candidates according to your specific requirements saving you time in the recruitment process.

“We like coming here because of the diversity of the student population. In terms of nationality, that’s something that’s very important to the ICRC, we really like to encourage people from lots of different countries to come and work for us. Also because Cranfield caters uniquely for postgraduate students it means we get people with the age and experience that we are looking for.” Liz Harris, Sourcing and Recruitment Marketing Lead for the UK, ICRC

“I find if someone has got a Cranfield wastewater treatment or water treatment MSc on their CV then it immediately attracts me. I know that they’ve had a really good basis of learning.” Dave Briffit, Treatment Process Business Lead, Severn Trent

“The Cranfield group project is a really important thing that we look at, particularly through the interview process and it’s a really good place for graduates to develop those team working skills. In fact it’s probably their first opportunity to really develop those team working skills, and that problem solving capability.” Kathryn Graham, Engineering Manager, Surrey Satellite Technology
