Strand 1: Motor Skills and Movement Patterns

STRAND 1: MOTOR SKILLS AND MOVEMENT PATTERNS

Students in grade eight will continue to participate in a variety of instructional physical activities. Experiences increase complexity in content, concept and skill development for a broad spectrum of activities. Students continue to practice skills in modifed games, but increasingly participate in activities that are regulation games with more complex playing environments. This class incorporates more in-depth instruction training principles that can enhance health-related ftness as students progress in achieving personal ftness goals.

Students will achieve a level of competency in motor skills and movement patterns.

Modifcations for games/sports are removed as students gain skill and understanding. ● Demonstrate competency through testing and participation in fve or more lifetime activities. ● Analyze performance in self and others. ● Students model responsible behavior while engaged. ● Explore various personal ftness training tools, techniques, and principles.

END OF STRAND SAMPLE COMPETENCY WITH LANGUAGE EXPECTATIONS

Students will demonstrate combining skills such as dribbling and shooting, in a regulation or advanced game, such as basketball. (Competency includes nouns, verbs, and key words)
