Celebrate the new year and summer holidays with some fair dinkum homegrown entertainment. From films and acclaimed documentary features to ABCTV favourites and a beloved pup named Bluey, there's a true blue option for everyone at JB Hi-Fi.

TOP END WEDDING This homegrown hit marries the trusty rom-com formula to the stunning natural beauty of the Northern Territory. The hastily arranged marriage of Miranda Tapsell ( The Sapphires ) and Gwilym Lee ( Bohemian Rhapsody ) hits a snag when the mother of the bride goes AWOL. The resulting road trip to find her results in a delightful and uplifting comedy about the importance of family. BLUEY: THE POOL & OTHER STORIES Move over Peppa Pig. The domestic life of a Brisbane Blue Heeler puppy and her family has become the new go-to cartoon for pre-schoolers – and parents love it, too. A worthy winner of the 2019 AACTA Award for Best Children's Program and poised to become a global phenomenon, Bluey is a smart and humorous reflection of the contemporary Australian family. MYSTIFY: MICHAEL HUTCHENCE Richard Lowenstein’s candid documentary feature serves as both a reminder of the dynamic presence of the late INXS frontman and an insight into his life. Presented as an oral history, commentary from family members, managers, producers, friends and ex-girlfriends is complemented by visual montages of rarely seen footage and scenes from intimate home movies. 2040 Conceived as a visual letter to his four-year-old daughter, Damon Gameau’s documentary feature demystifies climate change and explores what the future might look like if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet. Accessible to all ages, 2040 blends traditional documentary footage with dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects.

STORM BOY (2019) Author Colin Thiele’s tale of a boy and his pelican is a true blue Aussie classic, and many ’70s kids will fondly recall the 1976 movie adaptation. This contemporary update stars Jai Courtney, Geoffrey Rush and David Gulpilil (who portrays the father of the character he played in the original film), with newcomer Finn Little as the eponymous lad. Oh, and Mr. Percival of course. RAKE: SERIES 5 The final season of the ABC's popular comedy- drama series sees a major shift in the life of Richard Roxburgh's loveable rogue and barrister Cleaver Greene, as he moves from the courtroom to parliament. Consequently, the show shifts its focus from NSW to the national stage, and with Cleaver on the Senate crossbench, expect some sharp satire on the shambolic state of Australian politics. MIDNIGHT OIL 1984 Thirty years in the making and featuring never- before-seen footage, this documentary feature is a vivid portrait of a pivotal year in the history of one of Australia's most iconic bands. 1984 was the year the Oils released their fifth studio album, Red Sails in the Sunset , and lead singer Peter Garrett committed to run for a Senate seat for the Nuclear Disarmament Party. AUSTRALIA IN COLOUR In much the same way Peter Jackson lovingly restored WWI footage for They Shall Not Grow Old , this documentary mini-series brings vibrant colour to black-and-white historical footage to chronicle the birth of our nation. Narrated by Hugo Weaving, this is a fascinating and insightful glimpse into the past and a reminder of how much times have changed – generally for the better.
