Contact the office or hospital at once if you experience any of the following: 1. Vaginal bleeding. 2. Persistent, severe headache. 3. New swelling of the face or hands. 4. Persistent nausea or vomiting for more than 24 hours. 5. Regular strong contractions every 5 minutes. 6. Water breaks, even though you are not in labor. 7. Decreased fetal movement. 8. If in doubt, call your doctor or midwife. When you come to the hospital for labor or other reasons: 1. Always try to call your doctor or midwife first so we can expect you. 2. When you come to the hospital in labor go directly to labor and delivery on the 5th floor. You do not need to stop to register. If you come to the hospital for testing or other outpatient visits you need to register at Central Registration. 3. During the day you may use any hospital entrance. After 8:00 P.M. enter through the Emergency Department entrance. AFTER HOURS CARE After office hours, on weekends or holidays, care will be provided by an on-call doctor or midwife who can be reached by calling your provider’s office phone number.
