Titled ‘The Oil Industry’s Best Kept Secret: A book full of inspiration and advice’, the project, penned by author and Oil & Gas UK operations optimisation manager Katy Heidenreich, aims to encourage more girls to pursue careers in the energy sector. Oil & Gas UK supported the guidebook’s publication and praised Katy Heidenreich for shining a light on talented women working in the industry. It includes profile pieces, advice and facts drawn from interviews with high-profile women across the sector. Participants include Dame Judith Hackitt, chemical engineer and leading health and safety expert who most recently led the UK Government’s independent review into building regulations and fire safety following the Grenfell Tower tragedy; lead geologist at Shell UK Ltd, Caroline Gill; and BHGE wireline field specialist, Lauren Adams.

Her career began in the oil and gas industry at Stena Offshore and Halliburton before progressing into the IT industry with positions at Petrocosm and Oracle.
