BRIAN FISH Associate Head Coach 2nd year Brian Fish enters his second year on staff where he is coach Brad Holland's top assistant. He begins hi s first season in the capacity ofAssoc iate Head Coach. The 37-year-old Fish came to

USD from Texas Christ ian Uni versity where he was an assistant coach on Billy Tubbs' staff since 1996. At TCU Brian's ch ief responsibil ities were as recru iting coordinator and in over– see ing academ ics for the basketball team. Recogni zed as one of the finest you ng ass is– tant coaches in the co llege ranks, his input in recuiting helped build the TCU program into a national contender for six seasons with the team compili ng an overa ll record of 125-68 and advancing to postseason play three times. Prior to Texas Christian he gained

coac hing experience with stops at Creighton University ( 1994-96), Kansas State ( 1992- 94) and Marshall Un ivers ity (1989-92). A 1989 graduate of Marshall Un ivers ity (B.A. in Sports Management), Fish played two seasons for the Thundering Herd where as team captain he helped the squad to 25 and 26 wins, respectively. Fish began hi s collegiate play at Western Kentucky ( 1984-86) before transferring to Marshall. A native of Seymour, Indi ana, Fish was a first-team a ll-state selection at Seymour High School. Brian and hi s wife, Me lyssa, are the parents of two children - Caryssa and Jordan . STEVE FLINT Steve Flint is entering hi s fourth year as assistant men 's basketball coach at the Un iver– sity of San Diego. He will again work closely with the Toreros big men, as well as play a leadi ng ro le in the team's recru iting and scouting efforts. He played a major role in Jason Keep's develop– 4th year

ment and success the past two years at USD. The 42-year-old Flint came to USD from Valparaiso University where he was an assis– tant coach for five stra ight seasons. At Valparaiso, Flint was the primary coac h for post players and was instrumental in VU's last six championship seasons in the Mid-Con– tinent Conference and five straight NCAA Tournament appearances. Involved with the Crusaders' recruiting, Flint helped assemble the team that became the Cinderella story of the 1999 NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen.

Prior to Valparaiso, Fli nt ga ined extensive experience as a coach and player. He served as the genera l manager of th e Columbus (Ohio) Basketball Club from Febru– ary -August, 1995. While in Co lumbus, Flint was a lso the co-d irector of the Krider Basketball Camp and the Adidas Summer Shootout. A native ofHayfork, Cal ifornia in the northern part of th e state, Fli nt was head coac h of basketba ll and footba ll at Hayfork HS from 199 1-93. A 1984 draft choice of th e Portland Trailblaze rs, Fli nt played for Jerry Tarkanian at UNLV from 1980-82 before earn ing a degree in Politi– cal Science from UC San Diego in 1984.
