wee BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT RETURNS TO THE BAYAREA The West Coast Conference Basketball Tournament returns to the Bay Area in 2004 and 2005 after three successful years at the University of San Diego 's Jenny Craig Pavilion. The 2004 WCC Basketball Tournament will be held on the Santa Clara University campus, and for the second consecutive year, the WCC will use an 8-Team/Play-ln format f or both the men and the women. Women 's First Round

*12 Noon

For the second straight year, the 2004 WCC Basketball Champion– ships will follow an 8-Team/Play-In format for both the men and the women. The women will play March 4-7, 2004 and the men will square– off March 5-8, 2004. Under this format, the #5 through #8 seeds will compete in the opening round to determine who will advance to the next round of the tourna– ment. Waiting for the winners in the quarterfinals wi ll be the #3 and #4 seeds, who will have first round byes. The winners of the quarterfinal match-ups wi ll go head-to-head with the #1 and #2 seeds, who will have byes through the first two rounds of the tournament. Beginning in 2004, the league will rotate the championship site region– ally. The 2004 and 2005 tournaments will be held in the Bay Area, the 2006 and 2007 tourneys in the Pacific Northwest, and the 2008 and 2009 championships in Southern California.
