Brian Fogarty, Dir. ofDevelopment Student Affairs & Athletics Brian Fogarty enters his eighth year in USO athletics administration, and his first in his new role of Director of Development for Student Affairs & Ath letics. The past seven years he was Associate Director ofAth letics for Deve l– opment. He took over this post after spending thirteen years as USD 's head football coach.

Dan Yourg Associate Director ofAthletics

Dan Yourg, Associate Director of Ath– letics, has been a member ofthe USD Athletics Department since the fall of 1985. Yourg oversees football , baseball, men's basketball , golf, men 's soccer, and men ' s and women's tenni s. In addition, he is the depart– ment liaison to USD's Financial Aid, Budget &

Treasury, Bursar, Campus Card, Computer Services and Bookstore. Add itionally, Yourg is the Athletic Department contact for NCAA directed annual audits, and coordinates the USD Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) report. He has volunteered himself in the San Diego community serving as Chairman of The Board of Direc– tors for Wayback, Inc., of San Diego, a recovery home for alcoholic men. Yourg received hi s Bachelor's (Sociology, 1980) and Master's (Social Work, 1986) degrees from the University of Wis– consin, where he was a nose guard on the Badgers ' football team . He played four years and was a letter-winner. Dan and his wife Virginia, a USD alumnus, are the parents of three sons, John, Thomas and Michael. John Martin Associate Director ofAthletics Facilities & Operations John Martin has been a member of the volleyball coach, he directed theToreros to three postseason appear– ances, including a 4th place finish at the 1976 AIAW Nationals. As Associate AD for Facilities & Operations, Martin oversees all the scheduling, field maintenance and purchasing. He was the department's key liason during the construction ofthe Jenny Craig Pavilion which opened in October, 2000. A graduate of San Diego State (B .A. & M.A. in History), John resides in Encinitas with his wife Jane. They have two children: Eliza, a 2001 graduate of USD, and son, Patrick, a junior at USD. This past year John was recognized as one of two Student Affairs Employees of the Year. USD athletic staff since 1975 . He was the school's first head women's vo lleyball coach, a post he held through the 1989 season, and also oversaw the Recreation Department. As

He directed USD's football program to eleven seasons of .500 or better records and guided their move from the Division 11 I ranks to the NCAA I-AA level in 1993. This past year he was named USD's "Administrator of the Year." His primary responsibilities are with fund raising, overseeing the Torero Athletic Assoc iation (TAA), and marketing and promotions for the athletic department. He oversaw the capital campaign for the Jenny Craig Pavilion, which opened its doors in October of 2000. Brian, who resides in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego, has four children: Bridget (a USO graduate), Joe, Colleen (a senior at USD), and Megan. Mike Matoso, Associate AD Compliance and Administration Mike Matoso, who was elevated to Asso– ciate Ath letics Director for Comp liance and Administration this past Fall, is in his fourth season as USD 'sComplianceCoordinator, and ...,;;;_;_;_;_;_~ fifth year with the USO staff. Four seasons ago he was the department's Academ ic Support Coordinator. Prior to USD, he spent three years as the Academic Coun– selor at USC where he was involved with the football , baseball , women 's soccer, swimming and vo ll eyball programs. Prior to USC, Mike served as the Academic Advisor for all 18 intercollegiate programs for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for two years. He earned both his B.S. degree in Physical Education ( 1993) and M.A. in Education, Counseling ( 1994) from Cal Poly. He was also a starting pitcher for the Mustangs baseball team that finished 2 nd in the Division II College World Series. Mike and his wife, Kelly, reside in Carlsbad with their two children, Abigai l and their newborn son, Cole.

Ted Gosen, Associate AD for Media Relations

Carolyn Greer, A.T., C. Head Athletic Trainer

Ted Gosen , Associate Director of Ath– letics for Media Relations, is in hi s 22nd second year. He oversees all public relations activities, publications, ath letic webs ite and information services for the ath letic depart– ment, in addi tion to hosting the media at USO

Carolyn Greer enters her twenty-sixth year as the Head Certified Ath letic Trainer for the University of San Diego athletic depart– ment. She is assisted by Suzi Higgins and Paul Signorelli. A 1975 graduate of San Diego State

In 198 1 Ted received hi s Masters of Science degree in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. A 1979 graduate of San Jose State University, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration . In addition to his SID duties, Ted is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA); a member of US D's Athletic Hall of Fame Committee; and teaches a bowling class through the USO recreation department. Ted and hi s wife Terri, a 1983 USO graduate, reside in Poway with their four daughters: Katie ( 16), Co ll een ( 14), Claire ( I I) and Erin (7).

University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education, Carolyn went on to earn her Master's in Sports Medicine in 1978. Over the years she has taught classes in Sports Medicine and had numerous articles published in a variety of journals. She oversees sixteen intercollegiate teams and approximate ly 390 USD student– athl etes on a yearly basis. The Sports Medicine staffprovides injury prevention, immediate care, and rehabilitation for USD's intercol– legiate ath letes. Carolyn, and her husband Jeff, reside in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego with their two boys, David and Jason.
