25 years of éS Footwear

éS Footwear officially launches to fill the need for a new type of skate shoe, a brand that pushes the limits of advanced footwear design and caters to the demands of the core, technical skateboarder. 1995

Sal Barbier, Bob Burnquist, Ronnie Creager, Eric Koston, Chad Muska, Tom Penny and Paul Sharpe form the original éS team. éS introduces tongue- centering straps on all models, plus Fall shoes like the Solist and the Stylus (the first-ever skate shoe with quadruple stitching). 1996

Upcoming Brazilian vert skater extraordinaire Bob Burnquist is Thrasher’s Skater of the Year. éS adds Eric Koston’s first-ever pro model skate shoe, the Koston 1. Then Chad Muska’s first-ever pro model skate shoe, the Muska with innovative stash pocket hidden in the tongue. 1997

Kerry Getz, Rick McCrank and Brandon Turner join the éS team. Chad Muska earns TransWorld’s Best Video Part of 1998. Koston’s second pro model shoe, the Koston 2, the first skate shoe to include an EVA midsole cushion is released. 1998

Arto Saari joins the éS team. At this point, Arto has made a great impact in his native Finland and is only beginning to gain notoriety in the U.S. He will go on to amaze everyone who sees his video parts, and become an integral part of the éS family. 1999

2000

2001

éS Footwear premieres its heavily anticipated Menikmati video to wide public acclaim. The arrival of Menikmati inspires a new movement of shoe company skate videos. Rodrigo Tx finds his way onto the éS team. The Holiday line adds Eric Koston’s third pro model skate shoe, the K3.

Paul Rodriguez’s incredible rollerplank talents, earns him a place on the éS Team. Arto Saari is Thrasher’s Skater of the Year. Bob Burnquist does the first-ever switch-stance loop at Tampa Pro. The éS Spring line adds Rick McCrank’s first-ever pro model skate shoe, the McCrank.

P.J. Ladd and Mike Taylor join the éS team. Bob Burnquist becomes the first-ever skater to air across an upside-down gap in a loop. The éS Spring line adds Bob Burnquist’s second pro model skate shoe, the Burnquist 2, and Arto Saari’s first-ever, the Arto. 2002

2003

Javier Sarmiento joins the éS team. The éS Game of SKATE turns into a national amateur series. Eric Koston appears in Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 video game. The éS Spring line adds the APS, the Catch, the Cradle, Rick McCrank’s third pro model skate shoe, the McCrank 3. 2004

Seventeen-year-old amateur Antwuan Dixon joins the éS team. Jay Maldonado becomes the new éS Team Manager. Ten-year-old upstart Nyjah Huston wins Tampa Am. éS Footwear celebrates a decade of innovation. The Fall line adds Eric Koston’s seventh pro model skate shoe, the K7. 2005

Pros Danny Garcia and Raymond Molinar join the éS Team. Amateurs Nyjah Huston, Silas Baxter- Neal and Bobby Worrest join the team. The team embarks on filming missions to Australia and Puerto Rico for the video, éSpecial. éS adds P.J. Ladd’s first-ever pro model skate shoe. 2006

Longtime éS filmer Scuba Steve becomes the official éS Team Manager and promptly scores his very own colorway of the Accel. éS debuts their long-awaited second video, a full-length promo called éSpecial. éS releases Justin Eldridge’s Theory Mid Chocolate shoe. 2007

The éS team trots around the the UAE, Japan and a US tour. Bobby Worrest wins second place at the Lord of the Lines contest. Nyjah Huston wins second place at the Maloof Money Cup. The éS Spring line adds Danny Garcia’s second pro model skate shoe, the Garcia 2. 2008

Justin Eldridge and Cale Nuske join the éS team. The entire éS team embarks on a well-received Scandinavia Tour. éS Footwear introduces the first-ever official éS Game of SKATE at the Action Sports Retailer trade show. Tom Penny’s and Rodrigo Teixeira’s first-ever pro model shoes.

2009

éS celebrates 15 Years Skated with Japan’s Sonik Distribution in Tokyo. éS welcomes Kevin Terpening and Jimmy McDonald to the team. éS Introducing the Square Two with Atiba Jefferson and a special collab colorway that comes with a photo book celebrating 15 years of éS. 2010

éS welcomes Ben Raemers to the team. The éS Spring 2011 line adds the Ecosse, Ellipse, Keano and Keswick. After launching its Spring 2012 line, éS Footwear goes on hiatus. Rest in peace, Ben. 2011

2012

The iconic éS Accel OG goes on sale in Japan to sneaker heads and collectors. 2013

2014

The top-selling Accel Slim is launched. Tom Asta and Wade Desarmo join the éS team. 2015

John Rattray joins the éS pro team. The éS team embarks on the éSpañol Tour 2009. The éS team then visits the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and France on the Great éScape Tour. The éS Spring 2009 line adds the Breeze, Cessner Mid, Hi-Lo and Trilogy.

After a two year hiaatus, éS is back on February 14th, 2014 with the ACCELITE.

Kelly Hart is made team maanger of éS. Diego Nejara is welcomed to the team.

Sal Barbier’s iconic shoe is relaunched. Tom Asta skates in SLS Street League. Wade Desarmo wins the Dime Glory Challenge Game of Skate. 2016

The Swift 1.5 launches with a heavy clip of Tom Asta and Ronnie creager at the West LA Courthouse. The Everstitch shoe is launched. Wade beats Tiago in the Dime Glory Challenge. 2017

With inspiration from our 90’s innovation and heritage, the new Silo has a design language that those in the know know. With a high rebound, sti energy foam mid-sole that is wrapped with a 400nbs rubber outsole, this shoe is amazingly comfortable, functional, and durable. 2020

2020

2020 marks the release of the éS Evant. An entirely new shoe inspired by the past and structured for the future. A future classic. Here’s to the next 25 years of éS Footwear! 2020

The Silo is launched along side the notorious Scheme which sells out worldwide in one day. Moreno joins the team. Tom qualifies in the SLS Street League. Wade wins the Dime Glory Challenge Game of Skate vs Ishod Wair.

éS welcomes Shmatty to the team. The Symbol and Accel OG Bodega is launched. Alphonzo Rawls features in the Silo Campaign. Ronnie Creager’s Contract shoe is launched alongside an éS x Manolo highlight clip.

The SYMBOL has been resurrected from the éS heritage line. This classic éS design has been reissued with advanced features, such as: STI Energy Foam MidSole for Comfort, Mesh Underlays for breathability, and reflective accents.
