Precautions for taking Zoloft and Prozac

1. Always inform your doctor of any other medications, pre- scription or over-the-counter, that you are taking.

2. Consuming alcoholic beverages is not recommended.

3. Caution should be taken when using: • Tagamet, ulcer treatment • Diazipam, anti-anxiety and sedative treatment • Digitoxin, heart treatment • Lithium, manic-depressive and bipolar treatment • Other psychiatric antidepressants such as Elavil and Mellaril • Over-the-counter cold remedies • Tolbutamide, hypoglycemic treatment • Warfarin, an anticoagulant 4. Serious and potentially fatal reactions can occur when tak- ing an MAOI such as Nardil, Parnate, and Marplan. Allow fourteen days between discontinuing MAOI therapy and beginning Zoloft or Prozac. 5. A rash can be the sign of a serious medical condition for those taking Prozac. See your physician immediately if you develop a rash while taking the medication. 6. Alert your physician of any reactions to other antidepres- sants.
