M ore than just a quick fix for a sweet craving, dates have significant nutritional properties, enabling them to be food that also works as medicine. They are high in soluble fibre and insoluble dietary fibre, meaning they can lower elevated cholesterol and aid in bowel regularity. Rich in potassium, which is important for controlling your blood pressure and a good source of iron-for healthy blood cells and due to the fact that dates are a low Gi food source they can be safely incorporated into the diets of people with diabetes. Dates are also free from fat, cholesterol, gluten and sodium! Why you should have a date... Enjoy fresh dates instead of lollies
