Challenging Negative Self-Talk By Simon Matthews - Solutions 4 Life

I’m making small steps but small steps are better than no steps”. I sometimes encourage my own clients to set aside a particular time in the day to think or worry about something that’s on their mind. It only needs to be short – 10 minutes to write down what’s in your mind at that time and then come back to it the next day and write more positive ideas that challenge the negative ones. One of the most effective ways to interrupt this type of thinking is to reach out to a trusted friend – call someone and ask them to give you a realistic viewpoint about your situation. Social support from trusted friends and family is a great defence against spirals of negative thinking. If you feel like your negative thinking has got to a point where you’re having trouble controlling it or it’s having a significant impact on your mood, reach out to your GP to discuss the situation and talk about the ways in which a Psychologist may be able to help you. One last thought – make a habit for yourself of thinking positively. You only need to do it for 2 to 3 minutes a day. Write your positive thoughts down so that you can read them to yourself. Repetition helps - two to three minutes a day, every day of the week, is much better than 20 minutes once a week!

We can help to make your breasts look normal again with Areola Repigmentation Cosmetic Tattooing. These procedures are an area of medical cosmetic tattooing that requires advanced education, training and experience and will help improve the appearance and self esteem of both women and men who have undergone breast surgery. Areola Repigmentation techniques can “create” an areola after breast reconstruction, minimize the appearance of scars, or restore an areola to a more natural looking colour and shape. The areola is part of the human breast in both women and men. It is a circular area of skin around the nipple that is often darker and thicker than the surrounding skin. The areola plays a key role in the aesthetic look of a breast. Since a woman’s self-image can depend on the appearance of her breasts, a missing areola can be psychologically devastating. A woman can survive breast cancer after undergoing a mastectomy, and she can regain her figure with a breast reconstruction. However, she may not feel “complete” without an areola. A woman can become emotionally distressed from a Are you feeling unconfident about some things in your life? Do you find that you dwell on what you perceive to be the negatives in a situation rather than the positives? You might even have found that over time these tendencies have led to you having a lower mood or feeling anxious or worried generally. One of the reasons that we can all get caught in thinking and feeling cycles like this is negative self talk. It’s important to realistically criticize yourself and to encourage yourself to do better at something but sometimes this criticism becomes excessive and it leaves us focused on seeing failures or shortcomings in our ability to achieve something. Fortunately these patterns are really nothing more then a habit of thinking and there are some things that you can do very easily to manage them. First of all, don’t try to be perfect! We all have imperfections and we all have times where we wish we had said or done something differently. Don’t set your standards for yourself so high that you can never reach them! It can be useful to rephrase your negative thought more positively and with more determination. For example, instead of saying to yourself over and over “I’ll never be able to lose weight and get fit. I’m hopeless”. Say to yourself “Everyone has to start somewhere.
