San Diego advances into NCAA Regional Semi-Finals Led by WCC Coach of the Year Jennifer Petrie and WCC Player of the Year Devon Forster, San Diego (25-4) celebrated ts most successful season in program history in 2004. USO won the West Coast Conference Championship (a league that sent four teams to the NCAA Tournament) outright, posting a perfect 14-0 conference record . It is San Diego's first WCC Championship since winning back-to-back titles in 1997 & 1998. Never before has a Torero team finished WCC play unbeaten and never before has San Diego advanced past the NCAA's Second Round . San Diego received a No. 9 national seed in the NCAA Tournament and achieved a national ranking as high as No. 11 by the AVCA on December 6, 2004. San Diego won 18 consecutive matches from October 1-December 4. Prior to San Diego's championship season of 2004, USD's best league finish was 13-1 in 1997. Prior to being ranked 11th in early December of 2004, San Diego's previous top ranking had been No. 16 by the AVCA in 1998 & 2003.
