How to Keep Your Tween Busy This Summer By Gabriella Mancuso

Summer vacation is the best time of the year, for kids. For parents summer vacation can be a long, dragged out weekend. If your children are not always preoccupied your summer will feel as though it is going down the drain. They will nag, they will whine, and when they’re miserable everyone is miserable. Here are some ways to make sure your summer vacations feels like the best time of your year: Paid Work : If you are looking for a way to get things done around the house, paid work is your best option. Give you kid some chores around the house. Have them help out and do some work with a nice reward to keep themmotivated. Allowing them a reasonable allowance for completing chores will benefit both you and them. This way your child is kept busy, and you get stuff around the house done. Plus, what kid does not want a little bit of pocket cash? Make a “Summer Bucket List” : Sit with your children and have them list all of the things they would like to do this summer. Combine it with a list of things you want to do this summer. Include restaurants, sporting games, amusement parks, shows, etc. Then, create a grand master list that combines all of the events. This creates compromises that will make everyone happy.

Cooking : This activity creates the perfect opportunity to spend time with your kids and teach them how to cook. Knowing how to cook is a skill that is always good to have. Bring your child into the kitchen one night and have them help you make dinner. Be sure to cook something fun and yummy! This creates a bonding experience like no other. Plan Some Hangouts : Schedule a “hangout” for your kid with their friends. Have your tween invite a bunch of their friends over and host them with a pool “get together” and some snacks. You can even barbecue some burgers and hot dogs and make it a dinner.
