Celebrating Your Achievements

On the 12 th April 2018, The AmaZulu business team of 53 learners (26 male,25 female); with the support of four project lead teachers hosted a community meeting which was attended by 18 parents. At this gathering teachers, Mr Dlalisa and Mrs Maseko and Zinhle Somtshengula (EEESAY field officer) shared with parents how the school became a participant in the EEESAY project and how parents could be a part of creating tomorrow entrepreneurs! Seeing first-hand the talents of the business team members brought great excitement to the parents who have suggested a quarterly market day be held at the school for the community to come in and buy the team’s products.

A local parent who makes shoes, voluntarily offered her services to show the team how to make beaded shoes. Another parent whose daughter recently matriculated and was not able to continue to university said, ‘this is a great opportunity for the youth of Madedeni, who can go on to set up their own businesses’ .

Fundani School raises R1566 to start up their school business

Over the weekend of 12 th May 2018 Fundani High School in the Eastern Cape hosted a beauty pageant for male and female learners to fundraise the start-up capital needed to launch their tuckshop business. Tickets were sold in advance and prices ranged from R2 – R5 per person. Mr Fumba, business team lead teacher said that selling tickets in advance enabled the business team to prepare the venue and stock up on goods such as chips and sweets to resell on the day. Through this event alone the business was able to raise a massive R1566.60 , which will be used to launch their Tuck Shop . Mr Fumba we are positive and confident now to take our school business to greater heights!
