Ultra Fortis now available from stock The Ultra Fortis sewer pipe system from Uponor is now available to installers across the UK. Fortis is a structured solid wall thermoplastic sewer pipe which not only meets stringent Kitemark certification, but also resists water jetting pressures of up to 4000 psi in accordance with Water Industry Specification (WIS) 4-35-01, and has independent third party verification from BSI.

Wide range of steel products

The system is designed for use in non-pressure gravity sewer applications, and is available in three diameters: 150mm, 225mm and 300mm. All three sizes have BSI Kitemark certification against WIS 4-35-01. Fortis meets the additional specific requirements of Thames Water Utilities, Southern Water and Anglian Water, as well as Sewers for Adoption 6.

Peter Holzrichter GmbH, Germany, offers a product range consisting of hot and cold rolled steel, stainless steel, bright steel, aluminium, sheets, piston rods and cylinder tubes (also hardened and stainless), tubes, strips, coils and slit strips.

sewer pipe ever developed in response to industry requirements, Fortis has a distinctive brown ribbed outer surface and blue inner. Robust yet light, Fortis is up to 10 times lighter than clay. For example, the clay equivalent of a 7.5kg, 1m long 300mm Fortis rocker pipe weighs in excess of 72kg. The impact resistance of Fortis is 50 times higher than clay, leading to fewer breakages on site, and jointing is reduced by up to 58%, as Fortis is supplied in longer pipe lengths than traditional materials. Uponor application manager Lawrence Richards confirmed that South of England installations had already commenced, following transfer and commissioning of UK-based manufacturing for all sizes up to 300mm, to provide a technically advanced, high performing, long-term solution for sewers of 300mm and below. A full range of socketed fittings and adaptors to alternative materials is also available.
